The Allen-Bradley 22A-D1P4N104 is a PowerFlex 4 adjustable frequency AC drive that is used to implement speed control and energy savings while supporting torque control. It is also referred to as a variable frequency drive (VFD), variable speed drive (VSD), adjustable frequency drive, frequency inverter, inverter, or motor drive.

This drive supports local and remote operation, and can be configured for speed control using Volts/Hertz (V/Hz) control or for torque control using Sensorless Vector Control (SVC) or Sensorless Vector Control with economizer. The drive also includes Proportional + Integral + Derivative (PID) capability, allowing it to act as a stand-alone controller and implement fully-automatic control.

This VFD supports an input voltage of 480 Volts AC and a maximum power rating of 0.5 horsepower and 0.37 Kilowatts. It has a digital control input that can be configured to source or sink mode through a DIP switch setting. The drive has an analog control input and offers protection against a current-per-time motor overload of up to 150% for 60 seconds and up to 200% for 3 seconds.

The device supports shielded and unshielded cables for wiring and installation. It provides removable MOV to ground ungrounded distribution systems to increase motor life. The drive includes relay pre-charge to limit inrush current. The VFD offers an adjustable pulse width modulation (PWM) frequency of up to 16 kHz to ensure proper operation.

The 22A-D1P4N104 has a full-featured four digits alphanumeric human interface liquid crystal (LCD) display module to show either parameter number and value or fault code with an integral digital keypad to program and control employing the local potentiometer both torque and speed of three-phase induction motors. The drive includes ten (10) LED indicators that report and display visual notification of drive status and information. It can be mounted with an input circuit breaker or fuses and is designed to meet the IP20 and NEMA Type open enclosure ratings.

For branch circuit protection, recommended components are 140M-C2E-B25 motor protector, a 100-C09 contactor, and 3 UL Class J (type) fuses.
