Description
The 1794-IE4XOE2, an Analog Direct Current (DC) I/O combo module from the Allen-Bradley family of Flex I/O type automation products, is manufactured by Rockwell Automation Inc. This I/O module houses the bus interface and circuitry needed to interface Direct Current (DC) voltage and current signals with the programmable controller. The module can handle up to 4 single-ended, non-isolated analog inputs and provide 2 single-ended, non-isolated analog outputs simultaneously in a compact and modular form factor offering reliability and flexibility for distributed I/O systems.

The 1794-IE4XOE2 analog Flex I/O combo module interfaces analog Direct Current (DC) signals with programmable controllers having block transfer capability, through block transfer programming. The module obtains analog inputs from I/O bus and field devices, converts them to digital 16-bit data format through a built-in Analog to Digital Converter (ADC), and transfers them to a designated area in the processor data table. This data transfer is done through the Block Transfer Read (BTR) instruction. The module supports up to 4 analog inputs. Each input channel is configurable to operate with different Direct Current (DC) voltage or current ranges. Input voltage ranges from 0 Volts to 10 Volts Direct Current (VDC) and ±10 Volts Direct Current (VDC). Input current ranges from 0 milliamperes (mA) to 20 milliamperes (mA) and 4 milliamperes (mA) to 20 milliamperes (mA).
On the other hand, the I/O module receives data and configuration from the processor data table through Block Transfer Write (BTW) instruction. The processor user program initiates the request for data transfer from the analog module to the processor. The module also provides 2 analog outputs that are configurable to voltages ranging from 0 Volts to 10 Volts Direct Current (VDC) and ±10 Volts Direct Current (VDC) and currents ranging from 4 milliamperes (mA) to 20 milliamperes (mA) and 0 milliamperes (mA) to 20 milliamperes (mA). The module is programmed using PLC-2, PLC3, and PLC-5 programming. The main components of the 1794-IE4XOE2 I/O module are label identifiers, the key switch position indicator, and a power indicator. The removable labels provide space for writing individual designations to each input as per application. The indicator shows when power is applied to the module. The analog module requires a terminal base unit to install and connect to the distributed I/O system. The required wiring is done to that terminal base to power up the module, apply input signals and collect output signals. Supported terminal bases include Allen-Bradley 1794-TB2, 1794-TB3, 1794-TB3S, 1794-TB3T, 1794-TB3TS, 1794-TBKD, and 1794-TB37DS.
