POINT I/O is a family of modular I/O products ideal for applications requiring flexibility and low cost of ownership. With one to eight channel density modules, including a self-configuring discrete module, the modularity of POINT I/O minimizes system costs and size. The Allen-Bradley 1734-IB8 is an Eight (8) channel discrete input module that is part of the 1734 Point I/O product family. POINT I/O modules, including the 1734-IB8 are compact automation components that are installed with POINT I/O communication adapters for implementing distributed I/O architecture.

The 1734-IB8’s input channels support sink wiring configuration and operate at 24VDC nominal voltage with an ON-state voltage range of 10VDC-28.8VDC and an On-state current range of 2mA-5mA. This input module has a fixed hardware input filter of 0.5 ms plus a user configurable filter of 0ms – 63 ms.

The maximum POINTBus current of this input module is 75 milliamperes at 5 volts DC. This has a maximum power dissipation of 1.6 watts at 28.8V DC and a maximum thermal dissipation of 5.5 BTU/hr. With isolation voltage of 50V (continuous), Reinforced Insulation Type Tested @ 2500V DC for 60 s, field-side to the system.

The nominal input impedance of the Allen Bradley 1734-IB8 POINT I/O input module is 3.6 kilo ohms, while the maximum input impedance is 4.7 kilo ohms.

1734-IB8 has a maximum off-state voltage of 5V DC and a minimum off-state current of 1.5 milliamperes.

This module requires using a terminal base such as 1734-TB or 1734-TBS wiring assembly. When installing to the appropriate terminal base, the required key switch alignment is position 1. (requires 0.8 N-m or 7 pounds per inch of terminal base screw torque)

It is also provided with status LED indicators that provide feedback regarding the operational status of each of the module’s channels. It is specifically installed with Eight (8) status LED indicators, One (1) for every input channel. Additionally, it has a module status indicator, a network status indicator, and a 24 Volts DC sink input.

The 1734-IB8 is installed with POINT I/O communication adapters. Series C 1734-IB8 modules are also compatible with DeviceNet and ProfiBus communication adapters.

The Allen-Bradley 1734-IB8 point I/O input module has a locking mechanism and a side-in writable label. It also has removable terminal blocks, an undertaken I/O module, and a mounting base.

The maximum surrounding air temperature for the Allen-Bradley 1734-IB8 point I/O input module is 55 degrees Celsius and can operate within a temperature range of -21 to 55 degrees Celsius. Like any electronic device, it is recommended to have it installed in a clean and dry location without the presence of any substances that might cause corrosion in the most important parts of the drive.
