The Allen-Bradley Compact 1769-IM12 module belongs to the series of 1769 Compact I/O modules that can be used as an expansion Input/Output with a Micrologix 1500 controller assembly, in an assembly with either a 1769-ADN DeviceNet adapter or a AENTR Ethernet adapter or with a CompactLogix controller. The 1769-IM12 module is used as an Input module for 200/240-volt AC signals. It provides 12 input points with internally connected commons. The module draws a current of 100 milliamps at 5.1 volts and has a maximum heat dissipation of 3.65 watts. The typical on and off input delay is about 20 milliseconds. The dimensions of the product are 118 x 35 x 87 millimeters (4.65 x 1.38 x 3.43 in.).
The device can operate at a temperature between 0°C (32 °F) and 60°C (140°F). The input signals for the module should be in the range between 159 volts and 265 volts AC with a frequency between 47 hertz and 63 hertz. The 1769-IM12 module holds a maximum inrush current for the inputs of 250 milliamps. However, a resistor can be used in order to limit the inrush current. If a 6.8 kiloohm resistor is placed in series with the input, the resulting inrush currented will become 35 milliamps. When adding a resistor, it is important to consider its operating temperature and the limits of the environment. The 1769-IM12 module has status LEDs in order to provide the user a feedback on the status of the inputs. The insulation voltage fits IEC Class 2 reinforced insulation. The device is intended to be used in a dry and clean environment. The pollution degree of the environment should be 2 (meaning that only non-conductive pollution may occur) and circuits should not exceed Over Voltage Category II.
