The 1762-IF4 is an Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1200 with a 4-channel current/voltage analog input module. It has a Delta-Sigma converter and 4 differential (bipolar) inputs. Its analog operating voltage range is -10 to 10 Volts DC normal and -10.5 to 10.5 Volt DC full-scale. Its analog operating current range is 4 to 20 mA normal and -21 to 21 mA at full scale. This module enhanced the functionality of MicroLogix by allowing additional I/O to the system. It requires minimal spacing and can be either DIN rail or panel mounted. The module communicates and receives information on 5 to 24 Volts DC power via the 1762 bus interface.
When wiring the input terminal blocks, a finger-safe cover is present. A flat ribbon cable is used to attach various I/O modules. The 1762-IF4 module supports 2-wire, 3-wire, or 4-wire transmitter configuration. During troubleshooting, users should always stand away from the equipment and always check it for any program change. Safety circuits should always be wired in series to the master relay.
The 1762-IF4 module should be installed in non-hazardous, dry, and clean environments with circuits not crossing overvoltage Category II standards. To avoid damage to the module, always prevent electrostatic discharge and remove power. A field-upgradable flash operating system helps to make sure the users will always be up-to-date with the latest features without having to replace any of the hardware. The I/O count can be expanded by using rackless I/O modules. This results in larger control systems, greater application flexibility, and expandability at a lower cost and a reduced parts inventory.
This module has Four (4) input channels, each configurable for configurable to receive current and voltage signals ranging from -21 to 21 mA and -10 to +10VDC respectively.
Input signal type selection is made through the provide DIP switches. The received voltage signals passes through an Analog to Digital (ADC) converter for conversion of analog data to binary codes stored in the analog input register. The converted data may be formatted as Raw / Proportional and Scale for PID.
If used with MicroLogix 1100, up to Four (4) expansion modules are allowed which may be 1764-IF4. If installed with MicroLogix 1200, Six (6) expansion modules may be connected and Seven (7) modules may be attached to MicroLogix 1400.
Expansion modules such as the 1764-IF4 connects to the MicroLogix bus by means of the provided the ribbon cable that is connected by the pin contacts installed at the front panel of every module. This Installation of this module follows the installation method of the MicroLogix base module specifically, DIN rail or direct panel mounting installation.
The module has a dimension of 90 mm (height) x 87 mm (depth) x 40 mm (width) height including mounting tabs is 110 mm 3.54 in.
