The Allen-Bradley 1762-L40BXB is a MicroLogix 1200 programmable controller. This module has 24 inputs and 16 outputs and weighs 2.4 pounds. The power supply is 100 to 240 Volts AC at 47 to 63 Hertz. The heat dissipation of this module is 21 Watts. The power supply usage is 80 VA. At 5 Volts DC, the power supply output will be 600 mA while at 24 Volts DC, the power supply output will be 500 mA. The input circuit type of the 1762-L40BXB is 120 Volts AC circuit and the output circuit is a Relay / FET type.
The 1762-L40BXB has Two (2) input groups. The first group is for inputs 0 to 3 while the second group is for inputs 4 and beyond. For inputs 0 through 3, the on-state voltage is 14 to 24 Volts DC, the off-state voltage range is 0 to 5 Volts DC, and the operating frequency is 0 to 20 kHz. The normal impedance is 3.3 K. For inputs 4 and above the on-state voltage range is 10 to 24 Volts DC, the operating frequency is 0 to 1 kHz, and the nominal impedance is 2.7 K. Both inputs 0 through 3 and inputs 4 and above has the same off-state leakage current of 1.5 mA. The current per group of the 1762-L40BXB is 8 Amps. Do not exceed the current per group common specification to avoid damaging this module.
This controller is also integrated with trimmer potentiometers that is primary intended for data modification or simulation of an analog data. This trim potentiometer may be used as a timer, counter, or analog simulation register. To modify the potentiometer value, a small flathead screwdriver is required typically, a precision screwdriver.
This controller is also provided with an integrated memory module which may be replaced by an equivalent part number of 1762-MM1. If Real-Time Clock is needed, a 1762-RTC memory module may be purchased. This optional module replaces the integrated 1762-MM1. If both functions are needed, a 1762-MM1RTC may be purchased which combines memory and real-time clock functionality. Real-Time clock is sometimes required in applications where timestamps are important and if the process controls machine or processes that run on accurate schedule. The memory module is used to store user program and prevent user program deletion.
The controller is provided with an integrated power supply that is operated with an input voltage of 24VDC. This integrated power supply provides power to the internal circuitry of the controller and to the distribution bus. It is also provided with an RS232 port via an 8-Pin mini DIN terminal. The RS232 terminal supports ASCII, DH485, MODBUS and DF1 communication protocol. This terminal is used to download and upload user program as well as monitor, test and commission the controller.
